Health Care Purchasers Focus Group—March 2020
This meeting is bringing together 8-10 medium to large employers purchasing health insurance plans along with health care policy and clinical experts to discuss safe, high-quality, and affordable treatment options for pain. From prevention to chronic care, the program will emphasize the importance of a comprehensive, value-based approach to treating pain and highlight the role that purchasers can play to eventually modify benefit design and internal policies to achieve lower costs, higher productivity, and more consistent healthcare outcomes.
The program will take place in Chicago, Illinois, on March 4, 2020, to be executed by the Alliance to Advance Comprehensive Integrative Pain Management (AACIPM) and the Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH). This will include some of the country’s largest employers and industry experts and a summary report will share the findings.
Participants will complete a pre- and post-event survey to share insights on the experiences of the participating employers as it relates to the benefit design for pain management. With interest from participating employers and employer coalitions, we are exploring a second phase to follow this program, to provide more direct support to employers interested in thoughtfully changing their policies and practice.
